ANIMAL HANGMAN RULES

The rules for Animal Hangman are the same as a typical game of Hangman with the following exceptions:

1) This season all words must be actual animals. No chimeras, no plants, no cartoon characters, just animals.

2) All words begin with a minimum of 10 guesses.

3) The player who Guesses the word correctly within the 10 guesses becomes the Caller of the next word.

4) Callers should include the number of letters, placement of letters, a list of all wrong guesses and the number of guesses remaining. Word breaks, additional guesses, bonus points and hints are optional.

5) All letter guesses and incorrect answer guesses reduce the number of guesses remaining*. However, a correct answer guess does not. This means it is not a good idea to guess a letter on the last guess, because correct or incorrect it will give the Caller all the points for the word and may end the word (its up to the Caller).

5b) There is one exception to the above rule. If there are multiple guesses without a response from the Caller and one of them includes a correct answer guess, the other guesses are not counted against the number of guesses remaining when scoring. However, wrong answer guesses would still reduce a players score.

6) When a word is guessed correctly, the caller should declare the winner and taly the new score using the scoring system below. When a word is guessed incorrectly, the Caller should reduce the guesser's score by one point. If the scoring system confuses you, fear not, someone will post the scores.

7) A Guesser may make no more than two guesses in a row. This can be two letters, two answer guesses, or a letter and an answer guess. Additional guesses beyond two in a row by the same poster will not be counted, even if correct answer guesses.

8) At any time a Guesser may ask the Caller about a potential letter answer mistake without penalty. Play stops and no others guesses count until the Caller has answered the Guesser's query. If there is no error in the Callers answers, then play resumes and all guessed made are counted.

9) Wrong answers provided by the person calling the word(s) results in the Caller scoring no points for that round. The person who details the error is awarded 5 points and immediately becomes Caller for a new word(s). If a Caller notices their own error and corrects it, they must reset the number of guesses left to the point where they made the mistake.

10) Words that are abandoned by the host for a significant period of time (several days without responding to a guess) will result in the reseting of the word, and the hosting rights defaulting to the first player whose guess was unanswered.

11) Once one player scores 100 points or more, they will be crowned that seasons Champion. The Season Champion will begin the next Season with a new thread and all the words and scores will be reset. Their prize is they get to select the theme for the next season.

12) SIMPLIFIED SCORING SYSTEM

Correct Answer found with:

10-5 guesses left = 5pts Guesser and no points to the Caller
4 guesses left = 4pts Guesser/1pt Caller
3 guesses left = 3G/2C
2 guesses left = 2G/3C
1 guesses left = 1G/4C
0 guesses left = 5 Pts to Caller and the Caller may choose another word(s) or continue the word until it is solved.
Incorrect Answer Guess = -1pt Guesser

4b) Formating
Since there has been some issues over this I figured it was best to codify how best to format the words when hosting.

First things first and though its been said elsewhere in the rules, it bares repeating. You must always include the wrong letter and answer guesses as well as the guesses remaining. It is also helpful to include the correct letter guesses as well (but not manditory.)

However, you must use the _ symbol with a space between each one to demonstrate the number of letters. _ _ _ Represents a three letter word. ___ is incorectly formated.

Word breaks, which are optional, when included should be represented by the / symbol and not by an additional _ symbol (as if it were a letter). Thus a correct letter quess should never be (space). When choosing not to include word breaks the letters in the multiple words are all run together as though they were one single word.
For example: The words Easter Egg would be represent first as Easteregg and in unrevealed fashion it should appear in only one of these two following ways _ _ _ _ _ _ / _ _ _ or _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ .
