Fire,Wind, Water, Earth - Sign Up Thread * Chapter 1ok, i found this really cool dragon picture, and it got me to thinking. thinking about what, you ask? about a plot, of course. this is the picture:
and this is the plot:
Centuries ago, the elemental races were at war with each other. It went on for years, with no clear victor. Finally, a truce was written. In order to retain order, a counsel would be made. This counsel consisted of one gnome, sylph, undine, and a salamander. In order to rebuild the realm, they declared that a creature would be made, a creature that consisted of all four elements. They called forth the most powerful mage of each element, and they worked night and day to discover a way to create such a being. Finally, after weeks of research and preperation, they set to work. It was in the shape of a giant lizard, and it's scales were made of diamonds. It could fly, and also live underwater. Many of these creatures were made, some of them breathing fire, some ice, some could control nature, and some could even control the wind. These marvolous creatures were named dragons, and they lived peacefully with the elementals for thousands of years... but all things have an end, and this was no different. One day, a sylph was found dead, and no one could figure out why. Soon, the counsel declared that it had to be murder, and the only beings capable of doing this were the dragons. The dragons denied this, of course, but the counsel could not be swayed from their conviction. Tensions grew until a war broke out between the two races, creator against creation. The salimanders had discovered humans a few years before, and now they were caught in the middle of this mess. They were divided, some joining the dragon's cause and others the elemental's. Others, including most of the mages, fled to the coast and took their chances with the angry sea. But some mages stayed, a neutral party in the vastly divided realm. They recruited those of the three races who belived the war should end, without any more blood-shed. The war goes nowhere, and one tiny thing could push it one way or another. Which way? Only time will tell.
*wipes forhead and strecthes fingers* phew, that was a lot of typing! oh, and a gnome is earth, salimander is fire, sylph is air, and undine is water, in case you were wondering. and if you're an elemental, you can be a counsle member if you get here in time. remember there's only one of each race in the counsel. anyway, here are the charcter sheets:

*Appearance: An yellow/orange-ish tint colored skin, a defined face (bit like a dragon's with those pointy chin and pointy eye spots, similar to the style of the cartoon "Jackie Chan Adventures"), standing upright with black (with white cuffs, cholar, etc.) martial arts-style long-sleeve shirt and pants.

if you're a counsel member, you sorta side w/ the elementals, but you can support a non-bloody end to the war. and since we have enough people, i'm making the thread for the RPing oh, and if you're an elemental, you can be a human, even if it says salamander lol...

Oh... well, an upright salamder's ok, right?
And btw, could you edit all of the character sheets into the first post of the RP topic? It'd be handy, instead of having to go back and to this topic to remember what the characters looked like. (Which is what I'm doing right now, hahaha... ahhh.)
EDIT: Seems like a good start of a story so far. I haven't done this sort of thing before, but it's pretty fun. My compliments to the posts there. ('Specially Sylph, you have some nice story elements you threw in)

Race?
|
~Sylph~
|
Thanks koz!
Yes, Fishy,
Sylph is a race in as much as mermaid or dragon is a race. The term was coined by Paracelsus who was a physician in the 15th century. The believed four elements of his time were Fire, Water, Earth and Air. Louise's post at the beginning of this thread accurately portrays the 'beings' that Paracelsus associated with these four elements. Though Undive is probably more familiar to you as Mermaid and Sylph as fairy or muse.
Your choice concerns me Fishy, as I am not sure how a sylph-hating dragon is going to appropriately work its way into the tale, but that's the burden of your choices to figure out.

its because I didn't see race in the form in louies post. And, I'm insane.

I think we have a problem here. As far as I can tell, Louie wants a sequel as opposed to a second chapter.
Personally, I think that idea's pants and we should continue with the current characters. I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm assuming that you (Louie) want a completely new story with new characters, but basically the same story and world.
If you really wanted a new character, you could either try killing your current one off, or try and be clever and somehow improve her through spells or some epiphany she has. All I'm saying is that you have to be thoughtful about it all, since this is basically a book with multiple authors, and at the very least I think it should be well-written. I'm torn becsue I'm biased and love the story so far, but it's ultimately your decision, I guess...
EDIT: Uhh, seeing the new chapter post I suppose I missunderstood something. >_< So will there be the same characters along with new ones? And will the new ones be played (or can be played) by the people who already have characters?

~Sylph~
|
I would think the original rules apply still, up to two characters per person.
|
louie9090

yea. same rules. i'm starting the second chapter now...
